René De Coning thrives in the interesting and complex environment that is Global Strategic Insights in BP. She currently leads corporate, brand and product research for BP, globally. René started her career in South Africa and later worked for BP in London. She now lives in Chicago with her family.
A career Insights professional, René has experience on both the supplier and client side. She thrives in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. For her, research is not about the numbers, or even the insights, it is about how they translate into strategies and tactics and impact business decisions. The ultimate goal being to increase the customer base, improve predisposition to the brand and drive business growth.
To this aim, she constantly challenges herself and BP’s research partners to go beyond the obvious, to find the nuances and deeper emotions that underlie consumer response and to discover the wisdom that will make all the difference to BP’s business.
